The Weeping Angels

The Weeping Angels are a newer villain in the show Doctor Who. The Weeping Angels first appeared in 2007 in the episode “Blink”. The Weeping Angels took the form of a statue with wings (hence the name angels) to protect themselves. Sometimes the Weeping Angels will have their hands over their faces, making appear like they are weeping, therefore they got the name The Weeping Angels.

When you first see a Weeping Angel, they appear to be a statue and do not move. If you look away from the angel, even for a second, the angel can come to life and kill you. We see this in the episode “Blink” with David Tennant as the Doctor. If a Weeping Angel is spotted, the person who sees the angel is not supposed to blink or look away, if they do there are dead. The saying that goes along with the Weeping Angels actually comes from the Doctor (Tennant). He says, “That which holds the image of an Angel, becomes itself an Angel”.

The Weeping Angels are only associated with two Doctors, ten (Tennant) and eleven (Smith), which brings the number on my rubric down quite a bit. Personally, I like the episodes where the Weeping Angels appear with the eleventh Doctor. These episodes go more in depth on what the Angels are and how to escape them. The episodes with the eleventh Doctor also bring back some characters from the tenth Doctor, as well as introduce new characters.

The Weeping Angels only appear in six episodes, which for that specific rating puts them at 12. Which is very low if you compare that to the Doctor. As for the number of times the Angels act violently, I had to do a guesstimate because there is no certain number. For the amount of episodes they appear in, it would make sense that the Angels act more violently because they appear for a shorter amount of time. The number of times they were violent I would rate it in the 30s-40s. To be fair, I am going to put it at a 35 to be between 30 and 40. This gives the Angels a grand total of 117, which is a little bit different to the Daleks who had 139.

In conclusion, the Weeping Angels are not the most evil villain on the show. Although they are my favorite villain because a lot of people think they are scary. In my opinion they are really cool, but that’s just me! Onto the next villain!
